Youth Clubs- Eva Owens, Youth Supervisor,

National Association of Youth Clubs

The NACWC fosters the development of youth through its girls' and boys' clubs. Our work with youth began with the organization of the National Association of Colored Girls' Clubs in 1930, during the presidency of Sallie W. Stewart. Later, in 1984, under the leadership of President Otelia Champion, the National Association of Boys' Clubs was organized. The two groups merged and are now known as the National Association of Youth Clubs, Inc.  Its purpose is to foster the moral, intellectual, cultural and spiritual training of its members; to inspire and instill ideals of finer womanhood, to preserve the health and beauty of the body; to teach the marvelous heritage of our race and to instill and inspire the love for home and all mankind. The four areas of development are the mind, body, race and soul. The National Girls' Motto is "Know Thyself and the National Boys' Motto is "Service With a Plan".(NAYC Handbook, 2006) Youth are also supported in their development thru Grandparents Academies."
